If yes, which ones?: Facebook
Number of days in the surf?: 100-150
Favorite surfcasting location: Cuttyhunk, MA and Montauk Point, NY
Favorite lure and why: Hard to choose...Overall, you can't beat a white bucktail dressed with red over white Uncle Josh 240S pork rind. For top water, Super Strike 2 3 /8 ounce yellow Little Neck popper. Subsurface, Super Strike darter or needlefish...again in yellow.
What Korkers product do you wear?: Cross current boots, K5000 and K1100 cleats.
What one item would you never climb on a rock without?: Some type of Korkers boots or soles. Not only do they help me get a grip on the slimy rocks and allow me to fish, but having them on is a huge help in keeping me from drowning. Fishing is often best during periods of inclement weather. Unfortunately, inclement weather also produces huge waves. Korkers boots and soles help me grip the rocks and remain in vertical position as long as possible.
Favorite music to take along: No dice on this one. It is too dangerous to stay perched on a rock in the raging surf and having your ears covered. You need to be aware of the sounds, smell and motion. Besides, salt water and electronics don't mix.
Your most comical fishing memory/story: Fishing deep into on the marshland at sunset few years ago. A cloud of mosquitoes arose out of nowhere, like a scene in a bad horror movie. I tried running, but my waders were slowing me down. Eventually I ditched my rod, reel and waders and ran for my life. Lost all the equipment AND came home with dozens mosquito bites. Wife wasn't pleased...
Interesting Facts (fishing or non-fishing): Wrote two books with only an index finger. I can't type for anything. Grew up in Croatia hand lining from shore. Enjoy photography as much as fishing. Co-founder of web magazine Surfcaster's Journal which you can find at www.surfcastersjournal.com
Catch you're most proud of: That would be my better half. Thankfully, good Lord has blessed me not only with a beautiful wife, but he also made sure that the kids have her looks. He knew what he was doing.
Favorite type of fishing: Swimming in a wetsuit and fishing off the big boulders at Cuttyhunk Island Massachusetts. Trying to remain on the rock long enough to catch a fish before waves knock me on my behind at Montauk Point, New York. Sandy beaches of Long Island, New York south shore.
Other hobbies: Other hobbies? She'd kill me !!! Kidding aside, I am in construction so I get home early which gives me the opportunity to attend all my son and daughter's afterschool activities, practices and games. Love cooking and photography and writing.
